| We played Virginia Oaks in Gainesville, VA on Labor Day 2008. After checking in, we waited 40 minutes for a breakfast sandwich since the cook didn't arrive until 9 am and nobody bothered to fire up the grill.
We had a 10 AM tee time and got to the first tee about twenty minutes late. The course was not in good condition. The fairways hadn't been mowed for at least a week. We had trouble locating balls in the fairways due to the tall fairway grass. The tee boxes were horrible, the markers were placed so the tees were below or above my feet and few if any divots were filled in. The bunkers were resembled concrete. Slow play was rampant. The round took over 5 hours to complete. All this for $94 per person? I'll probably not be return... |

| Course not in as great shape as it was at the beginning of the year. Fairways were very hard and is really showing course wear from all of the play this year. Some of the greens were nice but had a lot of ball marks. |

| Our party of 8 got bumped due to a corporate outing, and they were totally good about it and gave us half-price green fees for another day; we used that this week. The course and greens were in very good condition. Its not a long course and you can score well without a driver; which means a couple of the par-5's are birdie-reachable for the avg golfer; from the gold tees, you can tee off w/ a long iron from many of the holes. This is a good golf course in good condition. |

| I did not like the course layout. It was really short but good shots into the green were not rewarded. The houses on the course are really close to you. The greens are tough to find a line to the hole. |

| Courses around here are still in winter condition, and Virginia Oaks was no exception. Still, the greens putted pretty well, the fairways were OK though soggy from a lot of recent rains.
I play VA Oaks quite a bit and overall it's a fun course to play and when it's in perfect condition it's quite nice and challenging. The twilight rates are pretty reasonable, though like almost all courses around here the pace of play is pretty slow, rarely under 4.5 hours. |

| After a 5+ hour round in the middle of the day on a Thursday, I have time to reflect. The greens were in above average conditions and the fairways were in average conditions. The rough was comprised of brown, dry grass. With an 11:00 tee time, we took the tee box well after 11:15. We knew it was going to be a long (and hot) round. With the coupon out of the Washington Post, this is a value.
Very average. 'Nuff said. |

| Very friendly staff. There was a coupon in the Washington Post to play after 2pm twilight for $39. If you can get over the remote location this is a good deal. |
